Abstract

• During September 2016 Kota Sampit experienced deflation of 0.46 percent with a consumer price index of 125.90. The calendar year inflation rate of 1.11 percent and inflation rate "year on year" (September 2016 to September 2015) of 3.34 percent.

• Deflation in Sampit City during September occurred due to a decrease in the price index in the two expenditure groups, the Foodstuffs Group and the Education, Recreation and Sports Groups. Although only two expenditure groups experienced deflation, the other five expenditure groups experienced inflation. The total deflation of the two groups is much greater than the total inflation of the other five groups. The highest inflation occurred in the Foodstuffs Group of 1.98 percent.

• The commodities that have the greatest contribution to the significant price index decline in Sampit City during September 2016 are tuna / ambu-ambu, rabbit, selar / tude, sugar, and long beans. While commodities that have increased the price index are cayenne pepper, orange, mobile phone pulse rate, donut, and roko kretek filter.
