Abstract

· During December 2016 Kota Sampit experienced inflation of 1.30 percent with consumer price index of 126.99. The inflation rate for calendar year and inflation rate "year on year" (December 2016 to December 2015) is 2.46 percent.

· Inflation in Kota Sampit during December occurred due to an increase in the price index on all expenditure groups except in the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel Groups and Education, Recreation and Sports Groups. The highest inflation occurred in the Foodstuffs Group by 4.10 percent.

· The commodities that have the highest contribution to the significant increase of price index in Sampit City during December 2016 are chicken meat, long beans, air transport, cayenne pepper, and cucumber. While commodities that experienced a decrease in the price index were oranges, household fuels, pineapples, potatoes, and color television.
