Abstract

• During September 2017 Sampit City experienced a deflation of 0.28 percent with a consumer price index of 129.82. The calendar year inflation rate was 2.23 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (September 2017 to September 2016) was 3.59 percent.

• Deflation in Sampit City during September occurred due to a decrease in the price index in the two expenditure groups. The highest deflation occurred in the Foodstuffs Group by 0.43 percent. Meanwhile, Transportation, Communication and Financial Services Group experienced the highest increase of price index (inflation) by 0,08 percent.

• The commodities that have the highest contribution to the significant price index decline in Sampit City during September 2017 are chicken meat, onion, garlic, cayenne pepper, and washing machine. While commodities that have increased price index is air transport, orange, cork fish, baung fish, and selar / tude fish.
