Abstract

During September 2018, Sampit City experienced a general decline in commodity prices (deflation) of 0.10 percent with the consumer price index of 137.05. The calendar year inflation rate was 4.48 percent. Meanwhile, the inflation rate "year on year" (September 2018 to September 2017) was 5.57 percent.

Deflation in Sampit City during September 2018 occurred due to a decrease in the index of two expenditure groups, namely the Foodstuffs Group by 1.06 percent and the Education, Recreation and Sports Group by 0.12 percent compared to August 2018.

Commodities that had the highest share of the significant price index decline in Sampit City during September 2018 were respectively broiler chicken meat, tuna fish, household fuel, cayenne pepper, and broiler eggs. Meanwhile, commodities that had the highest contribution to the significant increase in price indices were filtered clove cigarettes, long beans, sweet tea, rice and cement.
