Abstract

• During October 2016 Kota Sampit experienced a deflation of 0.63 percent with a consumer price index of 124.53. The calendar year inflation rate of 0.48 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (October 2016 to October 2015) of 2.34 percent.

• Deflation in Sampit City during October occurred due to a decrease in the price index in two expenditure groups, namely Food and Transport Group, Communication and Financial Services Group. Although only two expenditure groups experienced deflation, the other five expenditure groups experienced inflation. The total deflation of the two groups is much greater than the total inflation of the other five groups. The highest deflation occurred in the Foodstuffs Group of 2.91 percent.

• Commodities with the highest share of significant price index declines in Sampit City during October 2016 were chicken meat, cars, cayenne pepper, tongko / ambu-ambu, and onion. While commodities that have increased the price index are oranges, wood balokan, sweet bread, bicycles, and shirt collared.
