Abstract

During August 2017 Sampit experienced a deflation of 1.09 percent with a consumer price index of 130.19. The calendar year inflation rate was 2.52 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (August 2017 to August 2016) was 3.41 percent.
  • Deflation in Sampit during August occurred due to a decrease in the price index in the two spending groups. The highest deflation occurred in the Transportation, Communications and Financial Services Group by 5.62 percent. Meanwhile, clothes group experienced the highest increase of price index (inflation) of 0.30.
  • The commodities that have the greatest contribution to the significant price index decline in Sampit during August 2017 are shallots, long beans, swallows / bengkol, vegetable tomatoes, and cork fish. While commodities that have increased the price index are chicken meat, watermelon, salt, eggs, and baung fish.
  • From 9 CPI cities in Kalimantan that calculated inflation / deflation in July 2017, deflated in Sampit City was 1.09 percent, Tarakan City 0.80 percent, Tanjung Pandan at 0.70 percent, Balikpapan at 0 , 62 percent, and Samarinda City by 0.03 percent. In contrast, inflation occurred in the city of Singkawang 0.18 percent, Pontianak City 0.14, City Palangkaraya of 0.12, and the city of Banjarmasin by 0.03 percent.
