August 2022: Palangka Raya experiences inflation of 0.28 percent and Sampit experiences deflation of 0.50 percent

Abstract

In August 2022, based on two reference cities, Palangka Raya and Sampit, there was a deflation in Kalimantan Tengah of 0.01 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.88. Of the 90 CPI cities, 11 cities experienced inflation and 79 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon at 0.82 percent with a CPI of 114.65 and the highest deflation in Tanjung Pandan of 1.65 percent with a CPI of 115.34.
  • The combined deflation of the cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit in August 2022 occurred due to a decrease in the index of the recreation, sports and culture group (2.52 percent), the food, beverage and tobacco group (0.40 percent), the information, communication, and financial services group. (0.22 percent) and transportation group (0.01 percent).
  • Calendar year inflation (August 2022 to December 2021) for the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit was recorded at 4.70 percent and year-on-year inflation (August 2022 to August 2021) was 6.94 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation in August 2022 include cayenne pepper, tomatoes, cooking oil, air transportation, cinema, tuna/ambuambu, pork, long beans, cork fish, and gold jewelry.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation in August 2022 include rice, household fuel, junior high school, lubricants/engine oil, diesel, electricity tariffs, house rent, cement, snacks/snacks, and ready-to-eat tea.
