Abstract

In May 2020 inflation in Indonesia amounted to 0.07 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.87. Out of 90 CPI cities, 67 cities experienced inflation and 23 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 1.20 percent and the lowest occurred in Tanjung Pinang, Bogor and Madiun each at 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Luwuk by 0.39 percent and the lowest occurred in Manado by 0.01 percent. Sampit City ranks 25th highest inflation city in Indonesia
  • Inflation in Sampit by 0.37 percent in May 2020 was influenced by the increase in the price index of the transportation group (1.53 percent) and the food, beverage and tobacco group (0.54 percent). While the expenditure groups that experienced a price index decline were the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group by 0.22 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel group by 0.03 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent.
  • The commodities that had the highest contribution to a significant increase in the price index in Sampit in May 2020 were mangoes, purebred meat, air transport, onions and travel vehicle tariffs in May.
