Abstract

In March 2020 inflation of 0.10 percent occurred in Indonesia with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.72. Out of 90 CPI cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe by 0.64 percent and the highest deflation occurred in Timika by 1.91 percent. Sampit ranks 24th highest deflation city at the national level.
  • Deflation in Sampit City by 0.26 percent in March 2020 occurred due to price declines as indicated by a decrease in the price index in the three expenditure groups, respectively the transportation group by 1.48 percent, the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.34 percent, and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel group by 0.01 percent. While the expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were the personal care and other services group by 0.56 percent, and the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group by 0.10 percent
  • The commodities that had the highest share of a significant drop in the price index in Sampit during March 2020 were air transportation, broiler chicken, cayenne pepper, cooking oil, wet shrimp and garlic.
