Abstract

Among 82 cities monitoring national CPI, 13 cities experienced inflation and 69 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual (2.98 percent) and the highest deflation in Merauke (2.11 percent)
  • Inflation occurred in Palangka Raya (0.09 percent) and deflation in Sampit (0.65 percent). Both cities are ranked 10th and 71st city of the highest inflation at the national level
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya was mainly influenced by rising price indices in transportation, communication and financial services (0.47 percent) and housing, water, electricity and fuel (0.32 percent)
  • Deflation in Sampit was mainly influenced by the decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group (1.66 percent) as well as transportation, communication and financial services (0.50 percent)
  • Based on two reference cities, Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced deflation of 0.18 percent, followed by calendar year inflation rate of 0.24 percent and year-on-year inflation of 4.22 percent
  • The volatile foods component plays an important role in the weakening of the price index in Sampit (0.47 percent) and Palangka Raya (0.15 percent)
