Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, 44 experienced inflation and 38 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kudus (0.82 percent) and the highest deflation was in Bau-Bau (2.10 percent). Palangka Raya and Sampit were ranked 15th and 28th highest deflation cities at the national level.
  • Deflation in Palangka Raya (0.37 percent) was influenced by the decline in the price index of the transportation, communication and financial services group (2.14 percent) and foodstuffs (0.69 percent)
  • Deflation in Sampit (0.15 percent) was also influenced by the decline in the price index of the transportation, communication and financial services group (1.66 percent) and foodstuffs (0.56 percent).
  • Based on the two reference cities (Palangka Raya and Sampit), Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced deflation (0.29 percent), followed by calendar year inflation rate (0.97 percent) and year-on-year inflation rate (2.31 percent) which was quite low .
  • The price component is regulated by the government (administered prices) and volatile food prices synergize in suppressing the increase in price index in Palangka Raya and Sampit.
