Abstract

Among 82 cities monitoring national CPI, 16 cities experienced inflation and 66 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Bengkulu (0.59 percent) and the highest deflation in Pare-Pare (1.59 percent).
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya (0.02 percent) and deflation in Sampit (0.10 percent). Both cities were ranked 15th and 29th highest inflation cities at the national level.
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya was mainly influenced by the increase in the price index in the education, recreation and sports group (0.56 percent) and health (0.18 percent).
  • Deflation in Sampit was mainly influenced by a decrease in the price index in the foodstuffs group (1.06 percent).
  • Based on the two reference cities, Kalimantan Tengah experienced deflation (0.02 percent) followed by the calendar year inflation rate (3.12 percent) and year-on-year inflation (3.72 percent).
  • The volatile foods component has a strong influence on the level of deflation in Sampit (1.37 percent) and the potential for deflation in Palangka Raya (0.13 percent).
