Abstract

  • In March 2018, the number of poor (population with 
    per capita expenditure per month under the Poverty Line) in the Province 
    Kalimantan Tengah reached 136,928 people (5.17 percent), decreased 2,233 
    people compared with the conditions in March 2017 which amounted to 139,161 people 
    (5.37 percent).
  • During the period of March 2017 - March 2018 poor people in the region 
    urban area increased by 5,132 people (from 42,845 people in March 2017 
    to 47,977 people in March 2018), while it is a rural area 
    reduced by 7,365 people (from 96,316 people in March 2017 to 88,951 
    people in March 2018).
  • The urban poor in March 2017 was 4.59 percent, 
    rose to 4.70 percent in March 2018. While the poor are at 
    rural areas fell from 5.81 percent in March 2017 to 5.47 
    percent by March 2018.
  • The Poverty Line in March 2018 is Rp 413,529, up from March 2017
    which is only Rp 401,537 (2.99 percent).
  • Food commodities that have a great influence on the value of the Poverty Line 
    in urban and rural areas, including rice, clove cigarettes 
    filter, chicken meat, and chicken eggs. While the commodity is not 
    food ie the cost of housing, gasoline, electricity, education, and 
    toiletries.
  • In the period March 2017 - March 2018 Poverty Depth Index (P1) 
    down from 0.840 to 0.808, this indicates that spending 
    the poor tend to approach the poverty line. While the Index 
    Poverty Severity (P2) remained at 0.213 in the period 
    same. This figure indicates that inequality of population expenditure 
    has not changed.
