Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, 35 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe of 1.09 percent, while the highest deflation occurred in Ambon at 2.08 percent.

Kota Palangka Raya experienced inflation of 0.12 percent, while Sampit experienced deflation of 1.09 percent, ranked 29th and 76th highest inflation at the national level.
 
Inflation Palangka Raya City is mainly influenced by the increase of price index in education, recreation and sports (0.92 percent), foodstuff (0.36 percent), and health (0.34 percent).

The deflation of Sampit City was mainly influenced by the decrease of the price index in transportation, communication and financial services (5.62 percent), and food (0.80 percent).

Central Kalimantan Province (combined Kota Palangka Raya and Sampit) there was deflation of 0.32 percent with the calendar year inflation rate of 2.85 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate is 3.98 percent.

Inflation / deflation of nine CPI cities in the Kalimantan region included Kota Singkawang (0.18 percent), Pontianak (0.14), Palangka Raya (0.12 percent), Banjarmasin (0.03 percent), Samarinda (-0.03 percent ), Tanjung (-0.29 percent), Balikpapan (-0.62 percent), Tarakan (0.80 percent) and Sampit (-1.09 percent).

The core components in August 2017 in Kota Sampit and Kota Palangka Raya each experienced inflation of 0.23 percent and 0.20 percent.
