Abstract

In May 2023 in Indonesia there was an inflation of 0.09 percent. Of the 90 CPI cities, 77 cities experienced inflation and 13 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 1.28 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Kupang by 0.79 percent. Sampit City is ranked 22nd in inflation city with inflation of 0.37 percent.

Inflation in Sampit City occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the price index for several expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group (1.02 percent); equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group (0.04 percent); health group (0.01 percent); and the personal care and other services group (0.31 percent).

The May 2023 calendar year inflation rate is 1.15 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2023 against May 2022) is 3.60 percent.

Commodities contributing/contributing to inflation, namely: purebred chicken, kale, spinach, watermelon, garlic, tuna/ambu-ambu fish, cucumber, rice, long beans, and selar/tude fish.

Meanwhile, commodities contributing/contributing to deflation were: household fuel, air transportation, tilapia, tomatoes, jengkol, ground coffee, packaged liquid milk, ginger, soy sauce (filling) and flying fish/benggol fish.
