Kalimantan Tengah's Economy Grows 5.66 Percent in the Second Quarter 2018

Abstract

  • The economy of Kalimantan Tengah quarter II-2018 as measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp. 33,867.0 billion and on a constant basis in 2010 reached Rp. 23,087.1 billion.
  • Kalimantan Tengah's economy in the second quarter of 2018 towards the second quarter of 2017 (y-on-y) grew 5.66 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the Category of Wholesale-Retail and Car Repair Motorbikes which grew by 11.76 percent, followed by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Category which grew 9.90 percent and Education Services by 9.76 percent. From the expenditure side, growth is driven by all components. The highest growth was achieved by the Export Component of 14.27 percent, followed by the Household Non-Profit Institution Consumption Expenditures Component (LNPRT) which grew by 11.82 percent and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) by 6.64 percent.
  • Economy of Kalimantan Tengah in the second quarter of 2018 against the first quarter of 2018 (q-to-q) contracted -1.18 percent. In terms of production the highest growth was achieved by the categories of Government Administration, Defense and Compulsory Social Security which grew 5.42 percent, while the Categories of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Mining and excavation; and Construction contracted. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by Government Consumption Expenditure which grew 7.89 percent, while the Export Component contracted.
  • Kalimantan Tengah economic growth in the first half of 2018 (c-to-c) grew 5.12 percent. Only the Mining and Excavation Category has contracted. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, growth was driven by all components. The highest growth was achieved by the Non-Profit Institution Serving Household Consumption Expenditures Component (LNPRT) which grew 11.46 percent.
  • The spatial economic structure of Kalimantan in the second quarter 2018 is still dominated by Kalimantan Timur Province at 52.03 percent. Kalimantan Tengah Province was fourth with a contribution of 11.25 percent
