Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, 54 cities experienced inflation and 28 deflationary cities. The highest inflation occurred in Merauke (1.32 percent) and the highest deflation in Tual (2.26 percent).
  • There was inflation in Palangkaraya (0.29 percent) and Sampit (0.63 percent). Both cities are ranked 21st and 8th highest in national inflation.
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya was mainly influenced by the rise in the price index in the foodstuff category (0.71 percent), health (0.38 percent), and clothing (0.37 percent).
  • Inflation in Sampit was mainly influenced by increases in the food price index (1.67 percent) and transportation, communications and financial services (0.86 percent).
  • Kalimantan Tengah province (combined Palangka Raya and Sampit) inflation of 0.41 percent, with the rate of calendar year inflation of 1.29 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 2.55 percent.
  • The core component influences inflation in Palangka Raya (0.06 percent), but contributes to the potential for deflation in Sampit (0.01 percent).
