Number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month in
below the Poverty Line) in Central Kalimantan Province in September 2012
reached 141,901 people (6.19 percent), decreased 8,120 people (0.45 percent)
compared to September 2011 which amounted to 150,021 people (6.64 percent).
During the period September 2011 - September 2012 the poor in the region
urban area increased by about 4,020 people (from 28,288 people in September 2011)
to 32,308 in September 2012), while in rural areas is reduced
12,140 people (from 121,733 people in September 2011 to 109,593 people on
September 2012).
The urban poor in September 2011 was 3.74 percent,
increased to 4.21 percent in September 2012. While the poor in
rural areas declined from 8.10 percent in September 2011 to 7.19
percent by September 2012.
The poverty line in September 2012 is Rp 277,407, - experienced
the increase from September 2011 was only Rp 256,245, - (up 8.26 percent).
The role of food commodities against the poverty line is still much greater
than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education,
and health). In September 2012, the contribution of the Food Poverty Line
against the Poverty Line of 80.88 percent, not much different from
September 2011 which amounted to 80.75 percent.
In the period September 2011 - September 2012, the Depth of Poverty Index (P1)
and Poverty Severity Index (P2) showed a declining trend. Index
The depth of Poverty (P1) decreased from 1.094 to 1.078. This indicates
that the average expenditure of the poor tends to approach the Lines
Poverty. So also with Poverty Severity Index (P2) decreased from 0.285
to 0.266. This figure indicates that inequality of population expenditure
poor also increasingly narrowed.
If compared between provinces in Kalimantan Island in September 2012
the highest poverty rate in West Kalimantan Province was 7.96 percent,
while the lowest in South Kalimantan Province was 5.01 percen
